Tuesday
We left Midland and drove to Davis Mountains State Park. Enroute we stopped off at Odessa Meteor Crater (not very impressive), Monahans Sand Hills State Park (Texas's answer to the Sahara Desert), and Balmorhea State Park (with a spring fed swimming pool like Barton Springs in Austin). Tuesday night we went to a "star party" at the MacDonald Observatory. We got to see the stars and planets through several of their telescopes.
